throughout December. 28/09/2009 Eddie's Bar - to put the record straight !!!! There’s been various rumours going round about Eddie's Bar in Portugal closing for good at the end of September. This information is incorrect. The bar is only closing for the Winter and will re-open again May 2010 for the Summer months May - September. Following on from the hugely successful screening of Iron Maiden’s award-winning film Flight 666 in over 500 digital cinemas in 42 countries worldwide in April, the recent release of "Flight 666" on DVD has secured another global triumph for the band by flying into the music DVD charts at Number One in 22 countries already, including the USA and UK , with many more charts yet to come in!!! -In the USA it was not only No.1 debut but also the highest selling first week sales of any music DVD so far in 2009! Last night at a typically alcohol-soaked Metal Hammer Awards at the IndigO2 in East London, Maiden were presented with awards for Best British Band and Golden Gods, the latter partly in honour of having a liver that can withstand the continual onslaught of alcoholic beverages fired from every direction! Trivium's Matt Heafy and Scott Ian of Anthrax presented the award.With three of Maiden out of the country, the awards were collected by Bruce, Janick and Nicko. The party continued on until the very early hours at the Embassy Club in the West End where the guys were able to catch up with the likes of Anthrax, Trivium, Anvil, Bring Me The Horizon, Saxon and other stalwarts of the Metal World. Nicko was largely unable to speak this morning but was heard to mutter : "thanks to all you Metal Hammer readers who voted for us - it's much appreciated - and to Chris, Alex and all our friends there, it really was quite a night!!"

The other 8 songs were amongst those featured on the band's "SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME" World Tour" during the first leg of which Flight 666 was filmed. This will mark the first time master recordings from IRON MAIDEN have been made available on Rock Band games. "Metal fans have wanted this one for a long time, and we've answered them with some of the greatest Maiden songs, both live and recorded," said Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music for MTV. Maiden Day and the cinema events last Tuesday was a tremendous success with glowing comments from round the World -- you fans certainly appear to have enjoyed the experience and thanks for turning out on a Tuesday night in such numbers!! There is a great deal of demand for more showings and we are currently working to arrange some more for you in selected cinemas. More shows have already been added in New York -- at 2 Minutes to Midnight tomorrow Friday Apr 24 and Saturday 25th at the Clearview Chelsea. Also yet another show -- the fifth -- has been added at the famous Mann Chinese on Hollywood Blvd, LA, for Saturday. You can get all the details and even buy tickets here. Cinemas continue to show over the weekend in Sweden, other parts of the Nordics, Russia and many parts of Latin America. Mann Chinese Theater, Hollywood Blvd, LA 21/04/2009 Flight 666 UK Premiere photos !!!! Last night West Kensington went Maiden-crazy with the premiere of FLIGHT 666. Eddie stood guard over proceedings as fans gathered by the blue carpet, with some having travelled from as far afield as Poland to attend. Maiden's road crew went black tie and looked extremely dapper, while the Astraeus flight crew arrived in full uniform. Nicko, Janick, Adrian and Bruce were in attendance as well as the film's directors Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen, media, guests and fanclub members. Flight 666 had its Worldwide Premiere yesterday (March 14) in Rio de Janeiro with the Cine Odeon in the centre of Rio packed with 400 fans and 200 media and guests with hundreds of fans outside welcoming the band to this first public viewing of the movie, plus all the major Brazilian news channels filming outside and talking to the band and photographers from many parts of the world. Bruce introduced the directors Sam Dunn and Scott McFadyen and Nicko joined them after the movie for a lively Q and A with the fans. Says manager Rod Smallwood, "As Brazil is such a feature of the film and also almost a second home to us we thought it totally appropriate to have the World Premiere here and the fans didn't let us down. There was a great turn out inside and outside the cinema. The atmosphere inside was electric as you would expect from our fans here , everyone singing along and having a good laugh at all the humourous parts -- yes there are quite a few, but then what would you expect with Nicko around. We would like to thank all you Brazilian fans who turned out and anyone else who travelled far to be part of it -- yes, that includes you two guys who flew in specially from Sweden! We would like to thank our mates at EMI Brazil and Fabio Lima and his team at Movie Mobz here and the team at AAM for all their hard work and assistance on this. 10/03/2009 Bogota 'Riots' !!!!
Flight 666 is showing as part of the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas on Wednesday March 18th. Film-makers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn will also be appearing to introduce the film and take part in a Q and A session afterwards. Public tickets are $10 strictly first-come first-served and can only be bought from the cinema on the day once the doors open to the public at 6.30pm. The address is The Paramount Theater, 713 Congress Avenue, Austin. For more information on SXSW, check out the website. 09/03/2009 Bogota 'Riots' !!!! The news from Bogota is wildly exaggerated. We are now in beautiful Quito for a show tomorrow. Everyone is just fine. The "riots" were basically a lot of kids trying to break into the Simon Bolivar Park to see the show and the park has a big perimeter to protect. There is a large military presence for all concerts in Bogota as can be seen in our forthcoming movie Flight 666. However in the last 13 months we have played 2 fantastic concerts there to over 75,000 passionate fans at this same venue, Simon Bolivar Park. Neither performance was at all affected by the incidents of people outside trying to break in. None of the enjoyment of the show or safety of the band or our audiences was at all compromised. We abhor the inane behaviour of a small minority of people outside. They do Iron Maiden, Metal and the real Colombian fans a disservice and sadly just provide a reason for the military to feel they need to be there. Our fans are there for the MUSIC. We definitely intend to return to Colombia and trust the authorities will not be swayed to banning Maiden and Metal because of a minority of trouble makers spoiling it for the huge majority of true Iron Maiden fans. Iron Maiden tonight pulled off a stunning victory by a reported landslide at the UK's prestigious Brit Awards when they were voted 'Best British Live Act' by the public and their fans ahead of Coldplay, Elbow, The Verve and Scouting For Girls. The tickets sold for the show at River
Plate Stadium are valid for the show at Velez Sarsfield, and tickets
for Field, High seats and Stands do not need to be exchanged for new
ones. Stand tickets are sold out but there are some tickets available in other parts of the stadium. The whole tour has been an amazing experience and this final leg back on Ed Force One promises to be crazier than ever!. "It was quite something to bring to reality the mad idea of creating a flying tour bus out of a Boeing 757 but it's enabled us to go further to reach many fans in countries we have never played before and also revisit fans where we haven't seen for some time, and it's a long time since we played in Florida! The 757 truly has been our 'magic carpet' as Bruce describes it. "Luckily for me the magic carpet is stopping not far from my front door which is very handy and nice way to finish this tour. Not far to stagger home!!" Rammed full with a full complement of band,

and then a very extensive run through Latin America, finishing the

British heavy rock legends, Iron Maiden, in association with Banger Productions, EMI Records, Universal (USA) and Arts Alliance Media, announce that they will be releasing a feature length documentary film into cinemas worldwide on April 21st 2009.
The Maiden tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customised Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, travelling 70,000km and performing to almost half a million fans. The band were accompanied everywhere by award-winning documentary makers Banger Productions from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies "Metal, A Headbangers Journey" and recently "Global Metal". Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and their team bring an intimate behind the scenes view of this remarkable journey, with a close look at the logistics involved and following Team Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane and on and offstage, getting to the heart of this global adventure of a band that has very rarely even let cameras backstage before. you may know from Rod's tour diaries, Iron Maiden have been working
on a feature length documentary. Entitled
'IRON
MAIDEN: FLIGHT 666', the movie follows
the band on the first leg of their 
excitement and hysteria that followed the band around the world
every time 'Ed
Force One' touched down in a new
country. The film documents the intensity of the punishing show
schedules, the struggle with the time zones, the pressures of
ensuring that every performance matched the energy of the many
thousands of ecstatic and expectant fans from many cultural
backgrounds, unusual angles from the spectacular shows... and of
course the fun had on the way!.
